This course teaches beginning level keyboarding to blind and vision-impaired students on computers with adaptive speech and/or magnification software. Students will use specially adapted software to learn to touch type.

  • Introduction to correct posture and finger positioning
  • Arrow keys
  • Home row, enter key and space-bar
  • Escape and Tab keys
  • Introduction of other alphabetic keys and punctuation
  • Introduction of numbers
  • Other computer keys such as backspace, insert, delete, and function keys
  • Shifted numbers and other shifted keys
  • Numeric keypad
  • Sentence practice
  • Paragraph practice
  • Timed touch typing practice
