Supporting a respectful campus
Everyone deserves to feel safe, included, and treated with respect. That includes students, instructors, and staff. Being part of the VCC community means caring for the people around you. How we act and treat others makes a difference.
What’s expected from you
We’re here to help you understand what respectful behaviour looks like at VCC and why it matters.
We ask students to:
- Be kind and respectful in words and actions
- Take responsibility for your choices
- Honour personal and cultural boundaries
- Help create an environment where everyone feels welcome
You don’t have to be perfect, but we ask that you be willing to be accountable if something goes wrong.
If something happens, we’ll listen
Sometimes people make mistakes. Sometimes serious harm is done. Either way, it matters, and we’ll take it seriously.
The Student Conduct Office handles concerns like:
- Disruptive or unsafe behaviour
- Bullying or harassment
- Discrimination or hate
- Sexual violence or misconduct
If you’re unsure about what happened or whether to speak up, you can always come talk to us. You’ll be met with care, not judgment.
Your rights matter too
If a concern is brought forward involving you, you have the right to:
- Know what the concern is about
- Be heard
- Access support
- Have the process explained clearly
- Be treated with fairness and respect
We’ll work with you to find a path that protects everyone’s right to learn and feel safe.
