What to expect
What you will learn
- Communicate effectively and respectfully as business professionals
- Apply business principles, theories, skills and best practices in their professional role
- Record financial transactions for sole proprietorships, partnerships, private enterprises, publicly accountable enterprises and non-profit organizations
- Prepare and present financial statements, and reports for sole proprietorships, partnerships and private enterprises
- Apply fundamental management accounting and financial management concepts to assist with the decision-making in an organization
- Use accounting software to perform accounting, payroll and tax remittance functions
- Prepare individual income tax returns and provide basic tax planning advice in compliance with the Canadian Income Tax Act
- Apply critical thinking and problem solving techniques to make sound management decisions and recommendations
- Apply principles of corporate social responsibility, sustainability and ethics in their work as business professionals
- Use relational databases to transform data into useful management information
- Apply user requirements gathering techniques to contribute to accounting software implementation projects
Program Duration and Maximum Time for Completion
This full-time program consists of four academic terms and must be completed within five years.

Program-specific
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent
- English 12 with a minimum ‘C+’ grade or equivalent
- Foundations of Math 11, or equivalent

Courses
Classes are typically scheduled any day from Monday to Saturday, any time between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Each class is three hours long, once per week. Students usually have 1 or 2 classes per day. See individual course schedules for details.
International students
Classes may be scheduled during the daytime, as well as evenings or weekends. Students will receive their schedules before classes begin. There are no classes in the Spring/Summer term (May to August).
