What you will learn

  • Describe the costuming department, including the roles and responsibilities, and interdependencies of the systems.
  • Adapt and practice communication skills within a costuming department context.
  • Describe professional excellence in buying and fittings.
  • Describe and navigate commonly used organizational methods in the costume department.
  • Identify and describe clothing alteration techniques used in a film context.
  • Develop knowledge for the industry of the future, including aspects of diversity, inclusion, and environmental sustainability in relation to costuming.
  • Generate an individualized costuming career path.
  • Demonstrate on-set and workshop etiquette.

Program Duration and Maximum Time for Completion

This program is part-time and courses may be offered in the evening and/or on weekends. This program can be completed in 4 months. Maximum time for completion is 2 years.

Applicants are to meet the following requirement:
  • Basic Sewing Skills. Applicants must upload an image (inside and out) of a project sewn by them, by machine.
