Application periods

Application open and close dates vary by term and by program. Close dates depend on seat availability for open‑enrolment programs and on the selection timelines for competitive programs. We encourage you to apply as soon as applications open, as popular programs may fill quickly.

Application open dates

  • Winter term (program start dates between January and April): February 1 of the previous year
  • Spring/Summer term (program start dates between May and August): June 1 of the previous year
  • Fall term (program start dates between September and December): October 1 of the previous year

Applications deadlines

  • There are no fixed application deadlines. If a program still has seats available, applications may be accepted until approximately three to four months before classes begin. Before applying, check the Program Availability page to confirm that applications are open for your chosen program.
  • Some high‑demand programs, such as health sciences, early childhood care and education, and trades programs, may close earlier if seats fill quickly. To improve your chances of receiving an offer, we recommend applying as soon as applications open.
  • Competitive selection programs may have specific application timelines. Please refer to individual program pages for detailed information.
  • Consider the study permit processing times and the deadline to submit proof of study permit to VCC before applying.

Availability status

Check the availability status of your desired program.

  • Open: Applications are accepted. Qualified applicants may receive an offer if seats are available
  • Waitlist: Qualified applicants be placed on waitlists if seats are full. 
  • Closed: Not accepting applications at this time.

Apply to a term

  • Some programs have multiple start dates within a term, such as the Culinary Arts Diploma, and the Health and Wellness Professional – Cosmetology Diploma.
  • Program start dates within the same term can vary, depending on availability. Applicants cannot request specific start dates within the term. For example, students applying for the Winter term of the Culinary Arts Diploma may be offered a March start date.
